Unit Price Calculator
Compare price per ounce, pound, fluid ounce, or count to find the truly cheapest product.
Updated October 2026Here's what you actually pay per unit. Enter the price and size of two or three products, pick a unit, and the calculator flags the cheapest per ounce and how much you save versus the priciest option. The big package is not always the best deal.
Best value
Product B
$0.23 / oz
You save up to 24.9% versus the priciest option.
| Product | Per oz | Savings |
|---|---|---|
| Product A | $0.31 | - |
| Product B (best) | $0.23 | 24.9% |
| Product C | n/a | - |
Unit price = product price divided by size. Lower is cheaper. Compare like with like (same unit).
Why the bigger size is not always cheaper
Sticker prices hide the real cost. Here are three sizes of the same product, ranked by price per ounce. The mid-size jar wins, not the largest one:
| Package | Price per unit |
|---|---|
| 16 oz jar, $4.99 | $0.31 / oz |
| 32 oz jar, $7.49 | $0.23 / oz (best) |
| 48 oz jar, $12.99 | $0.27 / oz |

Unit Price: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you calculate unit price?
Unit price equals the product price divided by its size in a chosen unit. A $7.49 jar holding 32 ounces costs $7.49 / 32 = $0.23 per ounce. The lower the unit price, the better the value, even when the sticker price is higher.
How do I find the price per ounce?
Pick ounces as your unit, enter each product price and its weight in ounces, and the calculator divides one by the other. Comparing price per ounce is the fastest way to see which package is really cheaper.
Is the bigger package always cheaper?
Not always. Stores often price mid-size packages lower per unit than the largest one, and sale prices can flip the ranking. Checking the unit price is the only reliable way to know, which is why this tool exists.
Can I compare different units like ounces and pounds?
Convert both to the same unit first, since the comparison only works like for like. One pound is 16 ounces, so enter all weights in ounces or all in pounds before comparing.
